‘Fragment II’ Bracelet
Description
Stainless Steel
An extension of the body, a delicate entanglement of metal and flesh.
The Fragment II Bracelet explores the space between adornment and anatomy, transforming the traditional bracelet into an intricate, sculptural extension of the hand.
Meticulously handcrafted from stainless steel using Catholic Guilt’s proprietary chainmail techniques, the piece combines irregular, lace-like formations of interwoven metal with delicate cascading chains that drape across the back of the hand and fingers.
Its fragmented construction evokes the deteriorating remains of an antique ornament, its original structure seemingly unravelled and reassembled into something altogether more organic. Open spaces between the metal reveal glimpses of skin beneath, blurring the boundary between the object and its wearer.
Neither glove nor bracelet, Fragment II exists somewhere between jewellery, armour and bodily relic. Its delicate appearance belies the permanence of its material, creating a tension between fragility and strength.
A second skin of tangled metal, as though the body itself has begun to grow its own adornments.
