‘Fragment II’ Collar
Description
Stainless Steel
A delicate restraint. An ornament suspended somewhere between the intimacy of antique lace and the severity of medieval armour.
The Fragment II Collar is a study in the beauty of restraint, reimagining the traditional choker through Catholic Guilt’s distinctive language of sculptural chainmail.
Meticulously handcrafted from stainless steel using proprietary weaving techniques, the piece forms an intricate lattice of interlocking rings that encircles the neck like a fragment of ancient metal lace. Its irregular, open-weave construction recalls the deteriorating edges of a centuries-old textile, its delicate appearance preserved in the permanence of steel.
Drawing upon the visual language of Victorian mourning jewellery, medieval armour and ceremonial adornment, the collar explores the uneasy relationship between protection and confinement, ornamentation and restraint.
Designed to sit closely against the throat, Fragment II follows the natural contours of the neck, allowing glimpses of skin to emerge between its intricate metallic structures.
Neither entirely jewellery nor armour, the piece exists as a small relic of the Catholic Guilt universe, where even the simplest adornments carry the weight of an imagined history.
A delicate restraint, forged from a material that refuses to deteriorate.
