Ritual Sacrifice Ring
Description
Stainless Steel & Red Carnelian
A small offering to the gods of love, beauty and destruction. An ornament born from the ancient belief that something precious must first be surrendered in order for something sacred to emerge.
The Ritual Sacrifice Ring is a sculptural interpretation of the ceremonial offering, meticulously handcrafted from stainless steel using Catholic Guilt’s proprietary Alien Flesh Wound technique.
At its centre, a deep red carnelian stone sits entangled within a chaotic formation of interwoven metal, resembling a precious organ caught between the jaws of some otherworldly creature. The irregular structure appears to grow around the stone, simultaneously protecting and consuming it.
Drawing upon the visual language of ancient sacrificial rites, religious relics and anatomical curiosities, the piece explores the uneasy relationship between devotion and destruction. The carnelian becomes both an offering and a remnant, a symbolic heart preserved within its metallic enclosure.
Neither entirely beautiful nor grotesque, the ring exists somewhere between a sacred talisman and the physical evidence of an unknown ritual.
A little piece of oneself surrendered in the name of something greater.
Materials: Stainless steel, red carnelian
Technique: Proprietary Alien Flesh Wound chainmail technique
Construction: Handcrafted sculptural chainmail with embedded carnelian
Symbolism: Sacrifice, devotion, transformation and rebirth
