Fragment Multi-Styling Piece
Description
Stainless Steel & Red Carnelian
An ornament without a fixed identity. A fragment of something once whole, liberated from its original purpose.
The Fragment I Multi-Styling Piece is an exercise in transformation, designed to exist beyond the conventions of traditional jewellery. Meticulously handcrafted from stainless steel using Catholic Guilt’s proprietary Alien Flesh Wound technique, its intricate network of interwoven metal resembles the deteriorating remains of antique lace, interrupted by sculptural formations that appear to grow organically from the surface.
Deep red carnelian stones emerge from the metallic flesh like precious wounds, while delicate chains cascade from its irregular edges, lending movement and an almost living quality to the piece.
Designed to be worn in multiple configurations - as a headpiece, arm adornment, necklace or sculptural body ornament - Fragment I invites the wearer to become a participant in its transformation. Its purpose is deliberately ambiguous, allowing the piece to assume a different identity with each arrangement.
Neither entirely jewellery nor garment, it exists somewhere between a sacred relic, an anatomical curiosity and the remnants of a forgotten civilisation.
A fragment without a prescribed place upon the body. An artefact whose meaning is determined by its wearer.
